How One Camping Trip Changed
American Conservation Forever
This graphic novel, illustrated digitally via Photoshop, depicts the 1903 camping trip taken to Yosemite Valley by John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt. It is widely believed that this trip played a key role in the creation of the National Parks Service as well as solidifying Roosevelt’s commitment to conservation. The illustration style chosen to interpret the story is a playful yet respectful nod to the importance and beauty of the natural world, and the cover typography was hand drawn, modeled after the many Ranger Naturalist Service posters of yesteryear.
